Using Rails

My Rails plans are as follows…

Install a few Rails applications. Start to use them. Study them. Good candidates include Instiki for an Engine Room Wiki, and Trac or Collaboa. Actually, Instiki is using object prevalence, which is kind of hard for me to swallow.

I’d like a Wiki for the Engine Room. It is much better to have a Wiki than to try and keep track of things in a blog. It produces better documentation. Maybe another MediaWiki is what I need.

Then I’d like to write a mail and news toaster. One that let’s me quickly turn the conversations I participate in, into feeds and blog content. That’s a project that will teach me both about Rails, and about data munging in Ruby.

UPDATE: MediaWiki is the way to go.
