Not Blogging

Having switched to Wordpress, I’ve stopped blogging again. It was much easier to create entries in raw XML, because I had a lot more control over formatting, and I’d made a bit of effort to get code examples to display correctly. Then of course, it had an identity that was my own, and the good old Kubrick style for Wordpress.

I’m not too terribly inclined to put work into Wordpress, and I’m not much impressed with blogging anyway. I much prefer communicating via listserv.

It is much easier to format messages for display.

I’m going to get back into blogging my little programming escapades however, for myself, for the sake of keeping the record.

If I were to write about blogging, I’d say that it’s like CB Radio, if you recall from the the 70’s. It’s a fad. It will pass. The parallels are many. We’ll keep portions of our life public, but this running diary concept does not work for people who are not absorbed in puditry.

I don’t like Wordpress, because I’m not going to play diarist, or pundit. Nor am I going to spend hours upon hours getting Web 2.0 services to catagorize my blog entries correctly so that they find the right people. USENET does a much better job of that.
